A cardz table on deep teal felt: Sam’s cards on the left, Riley’s on the right, the deck and an empty discard pile in the middle, three fives in hand.

Different names, same game

Everyone knows this game. Nobody calls it the same thing. Sh*thead, Palace, Shed, Karma. You learned it on a ferry, in a hostel, on a beach with a deck missing two cards. cardz is that game, done properly.

House rules are the game

Sevens that force the next play lower. Invisible eights instead of threes. Queens that reverse, jacks that skip, a pair of jokers on anything. Pick yours for the next game or save them as defaults, and the host’s rules apply to the whole table.

Nine cards and a pile

Three face down, three face up, three in hand. Swap before you start, then get rid of everything. Twos reset, threes are invisible, tens burn, four of a kind burns, and three sixes is the devil’s hand.

Pull up a chair
